What stat is this?

DeMarcus Cousins, C NO 48 36.2 242
Russell Westbrook, PG OKC 78 36.4 370
James Harden, PG HOU 71 35.5 309
LeBron James, SF CLE 80 37.2 340
John Wall, PG WSH 40 34.3 151
Joel Embiid, C PHI 63 30.3 234
Devin Booker, SG PHX 54 34.5 194
Ben Simmons, PG PHI 78 34 265
Kevin Durant, SF GS 66 34.3 203
Stephen Curry, PG GS 51 32 153

Looking at this table from ESPN, what stat do you think it is? NAME, TEAM, GAMES, MINUTES and… This is the top 10 as of April 8, 2018. Have any idea. You might think it is a scoring table or something to do with scoring….It’s not. Boogie leads with 5 a game and the Chef Curry comes in at 10 with 3 a game. Still don’t know… these guys lead the league in turnovers. It might have to do with ball touches but you don’t see Damian Lillard 41th, Chris Paul 51st Kemba Walker 52nd Goran Dragic 53rd or Austin Rivers 73rd point guards with 30 plus minutes. These guys value the ball.

How Small Guards Use Height to their Advantage!

Let’s face it: as a smaller guard, basketball becomes much more difficult. But that doesn’t have to be the end of the story. Guards like Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Keene, Tyler Ulis, Chris Paul, and legends like Muggsy Bogues, Calvin Murphy, and Nate Robinson have proved that a shorter stature can be used just as well as the average NBA frame. Check out how above. The next installment will include finishing and facilitating! -By Any Means Basketball

NEVER GIVE UP! NEVER!

This is why you never give up. Play to the final buzzer young fella! I coach until the buzzer sounds.
***This is raw uncut game footage, just added some music. Thank you XTY for the footage.

They’re not better than you! (a voice echoed)

“They’re not better than you!”, a voice echoed in the gym. The score is 17-21 down by 4 with 7:30 left on the clock and we just committed a foul. Good coaches will call timeouts to “Ice” a player and give a gut check to his team. “Do we want to go home now? I can tell them we don’t want to play anymore?… I have 4 guys on this bench who want to play…let me know now.” I didn’t think the player would sink both of the free throws. But he did.  I knew we were the better team. I knew we came back from bigger deficits. I can only challenge you. And, all you can do is choose to respond or not. Well, thank you for your response. 36 to 26 victory. The last basket didn’t count in their books but after watching the video, it should have so I added to our totals.

For the new guys, I’m sorry I couldn’t play you more.  Keep in mind this is a competitive team, we are here to compete. We compete against other teams in a game and within the team at practice. It amazes me how far the boys from the Super Sonic days have come along. We’ve since learned how to compete. Now we are learning how to win. What you do on the court can translate what you do in life. Not always though but if you work hard good thing will happen. The values you are now showing such as respect, selflessness, work ethic, and the desire to do your best will have a lasting effect on your lives.  Thank you for letting me be a part of it.

Remember: Love x Commitment= Greatness in what you choose to do.

Savor this win until Tuesday’s practice, then we have work to do. It doesn’t get any easier from here. Everyone is gunning to beat us. Just like last summer, 6-0 and finished 7-1. Wanna make this season special? Then let’s exert special efforts in this week’s practices.

SOPAC Tourney Review~Do we want to play?

It took me 3 days to review the tape. Monica you did a great job, thank you! My initial thought were we got out hustled. But in order to get out hustled we have to hustle and we didn’t. I can take the mistakes if we hustle and I can take a loss if we hustle. But this time around we did not own the names on our jerseys.

In game 1 we managed to have 19 turnovers and 6 steals for minus 13. We shot 25% from the field 8 made of 32 attempts. Highest rebounder got 4 rebounds.

We made an improvement in Game 2 with 6 turnovers and 8 steals for plus 2. We shot 15 percent from the field 6 of 40 shots. Highest rebounder got 8 rebounds

It is real difficult to win games when we are negative in the turnover ratio and also when our shooting percentages are in the teens. Even if we hustle on defense, it will be hard to win a game with low field goal percentages or several turnovers.
